Iota Horologii
An interstellar starship maneuvering into orbit around a large moon of Iota Horologii b. |
Iota Horologii is quite an interesting world - a gas giant like most of the other exoplanets, but in the right distance to its parent star to keep water liquid. Possible moons of this planet would be larger than Jupiter's, but chemically similar to our terrestrial planets. But its orbit is highly eccentric, so an Earth-sized moon with an atmosphere of 1 bar would swing between a siberian winter and a tropical summer. Life may arise on such a world, but only the most temperature tolerant creatures would thrive here. |
